Get Involved
Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District!
Volunteering helps create a supportive and welcoming environment in our schools. Whether you're a member of the community wanting to give back, or a parent eager to assist in the classroom, the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District welcomes your support!
Please note: Volunteer coaches have a unique process. Volunteer coaches should refer to their school's Athletic Coordinator for guidance on getting cleared to coach.
Become a volunteer
We have recently updated our volunteer clearance process to make it more convenient, efficient and robust. The safety of our students is our number one priority, and we appreciate you taking the time to submit to a background check.
Our clearance plan includes:
- SSN Trace: Verifies your Social Security Number and address history to confirm your identity.
- National Criminal Database Search: Conducts a search of national and state criminal records, including the sex offender registry.
- Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) Check: Reviews driving records to identify any qualifying candidates for positions requiring driving.
- Criminal Record History: A broader check of federal, state, and county criminal records beyond the initial national database search.
Each of our schools are able to clear volunteers. You will need to have a social security number, and to present a valid email address. Our staff at the building will then send you the link to process your application. The process takes just a few minutes, and unless there is clarification needed, you will be cleared to volunteer within about 15 minutes.
If you do not have a social security number, we may still be able to clear you to volunteer, but we have to do so in the Human Resources Department at Central Office. Also, if there are any questions around your submission, or if we just need clarification, you will be referred to our Human Resources Department.
Thanks for being a part of what makes our school communities great!
